📃 This volunteer opportunity will help to support court users in Queensland, making their day in court as stress-free as possible.
As a valued member of the court team, you will assist with the smooth operation of the court and provide appropriate support to court users in collaboration with court staff. Your role will involve welcoming and assisting people who may be anxious, stressed, or unsure, ensuring they feel accepted and supported.
You will play a key part in creating a more positive court experience while working in a team environment.

You will assist individuals navigating a variety of situations, such as:

Extremely stressed individuals attending court for the first time, expressing fear, anger, or anxiety

Distraught family members, friends, or partners

Language challenges with limited or no English

Uncertainty about legal representation

You will work closely with court staff, following their directions as required, and provide a reassuring presence for court users.

Working as part of a supportive court team

Attending court as agreed with your Program Coordinator

Welcoming court users with a warm smile and genuine interest

Identifying and assisting those who appear concerned, unsure, or confused

Referring court users to appropriate support pathways

Clarifying needs if uncertain and directing or accompanying users to required support

🕑 Times: 8:15 am - 12:30 pm Negotiable and dependant on court needs
📅 Days: Weekdays - Weekly commitment of one morning per week
☑️ Commitment: Start with as little as 3-4 hours monthly
