Homework Club Facilitator Volunteer (Coquitlam)
We are looking for enthusiastic and responsible volunteers to support Homework Club at our Tri-Cities service centre (address below). The Homework Club Facilitator supports children and youth with homework, reading, writing, basic math, learning activities, and positive study habits in a welcoming and encouraging environment.
Location: S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Tri-Cities Service Centre (#2058 - 1163 Pinetree Way Coquitlam, V3B 8A9)
Minimum Age: 16 years or above
Duties:
- Support children and youth homework, reading, writing, basic math, and learning activities
- Encourage positive study habits and confidence in schoolwork
- Provide 1-1 or small group support under staff guidance
- Help create a safe and welcoming learning environment
- Assist with general program set-up, clean-up, attendance, and prep of learning materials
Qualifications:
- Minimum 16 years of age
- Friendly, patient, respectful and reliable
- Comfortable working with children, youth, newcomers, and families
- Good communication and listening skills
- Ability to explain simple learning concepts clearly and encourage students
- Interest or experience in tutoring, mentoring, or education
- Willing to get a free Criminal Record Check-Vulnerable Sector prior to volunteering
Time Commitment
- Flexible schedule, with shifts happening between Mon-Fri, 3:00/3:30pm-5:00pm
Training
- Orientation provided by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. staff
- Any other specific training or screenings required
