Youth Behavioral Health Programs and Safe Streets

Training - Pre-Service Training

Pre-Service Training is intended for persons who are preparing for an ongoing volunteer or intern role in a Catholic Charities child welfare and mental health program, who have already completed a significant amount of background screening, or for existing volunteers who want a refresher.

Pre-Service Training is offered quarterly for prospective Volunteers, Undergraduate Interns, and Therapeutic Mentors and must be completed prior to the start of service. This training will equip you with the tools you’ll need to make your service experience effective and rewarding. The Volunteer Services Staff will familiarize you with our client population, our treatment philosophies, and some practical tips to give you confidence as you join in the good work of the Family Services Division.

Pre-Service Training for Graduate Interns is offered once per year in August.

Please do not sign up to attend unless a placement has already been coordinated with Volunteer Services and you have completed a significant portion of the application and background screening processes.
