Surrey Settlement and Family Program

We are looking for friendly and responsible volunteers to support Senior Circles at our South Surrey service centre (address below). The Senior Circles Facilitator supports group activities that help seniors build social connections, share experiences, access information, and participate in meaningful community activities. 

Location: S.U.C.C.E.S.S. South Surrey Service Centre (#200 - 15400 Croydon Drive Surrey, V3Z 1K1)

Minimum Age: 19 years of age or above

Duties: 

• Facilitate or co-facilitate group conversations and social activities for seniors
• Welcome participants and help create a friendly, safe, and inclusive environment
• Encourage participation, conversation, and peer communication
• Support activities such as discussion circles, information sharing, games, and wellness/cultural activities
• Assist with room set-up, clean-up, attendance, refreshments, and basic prep

Qualifications:

• Minimum 19 year of age
• Friendly, patience, respectful, and reliable
• Comfortable working with seniors, newcomers, and diverse community members
• Good communication and active listening skills
• Interest or experience in seniors' programs or community engagement
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Willing to obtain a free Criminal Record Check-Vulnerable Sector prior to volunteering

Time Commitment

• Flexible schedule, to be discussed with program coordinator 

Training

• Orientation provided by staff, with any additional required trainings or screenings
