Internship - Office of Emergency Management Intern

Purpose

To assist the Office of Emergency Management in meeting the homeland security and emergency planning needs of the City of Arlington.

 

Responsibilities

Assist in updating and maintaining an assortment of emergency management plans. Work with community volunteer group to promote preparedness goals.  Setup and facilitate meetings as needed.

 

Intern may work with volunteer groups on emergency management issues and coordination.  Other jobs as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Candidates should be interested in learning about the emergency management field and homeland security issues.  Prefer individuals with a degree concentration in Emergency Management and Public Administration.

 

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with community groups, media relations, public relations, grant writing, or community development.

 

Prefer undergraduate candidates within the final semester of study or graduate student.

 

Reports to

Emergency Management Administrator and Emergency Management Coordinator

 

Time Commitment

20 hours per week, flexible.
