Patients Gardening Program
Assist patients to go down to the gardening area in the backyard of the Richardson Hospital. Activities to include: assisting and monitoring patients standing or crouching safely while gardening together, planting herbs, vegetables and flowers.
Here are some of the tasks included:

Stay with patients outside OR help with bringing more patients outside

Spotting patients if they stand

Introduction of what we`re doing ex: what flowers, seeds are we planting? etc.

À l’Hôpital Richardson et Catherine Booth, la réadaptation consiste à prendre soin des gens, et pas seulement à leur fournir des traitements. L’équipe multidisciplinaire accompagne les patients à chaque étape de leur réadaptation. Travailler en collaboration avec le patient et la participation des membres de sa famille, en prenant soin de ses besoins médicaux, fonctionnels, psychologiques et sociaux.
Engagement des bénévoles
Les bénévoles jouent un rôle essentiel dans l’accompagnement des personnes qui se rétablissent d’un AVC ou d’une chirurgie orthopédique tout en apprenant à retrouver leur mobilité et leur autonomie avec l’aide de l’équipe multidisciplinaire professionnelle.

3 mois ou plus est l’engagement minimum requis
Activités programmées
lundi au vendredi entre 9h et 16h, quarts de travail de 2 Ă 3 heures par semaine
Les quarts de travail des bénévoles sont principalement des jours de semaine en réadaptation, tandis que d’autres activités comme les loisirs et les visites peuvent être effectuées le soir et les fins de semaine.
Mission and Goals
At the Richardson and Catherine Booth Hospital, rehabilitation is about CARING for people, not only providing treatment. The multi-disciplinary team helps patients in every step of their rehabilitation. Working collaboratively with the patient and the involvement of their family members, caring for their medical, functional, psychological and social needs.
Volunteer Engagement
Volunteers play an integral role in supporting persons recovering from a stroke or orthopedic surgery while learning to regain their mobility and independence with the help of the professional multidisciplinary team.

Commitment
3 months or more is the minimum required
Scheduled Activities
Weekdays Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm for most activities (2 to 3 hours weekly)
Evenings and weekends are possible for visits, special events, musical programs and meal assistance
