State Trails

Purpose (why we are doing this):

To assist with clean-up along the Gitchi-Gami State Trail at Iona's Beach and Silver Creek Cliff sections.

Impact this position will have:

To enhance resource management and visitor experiences.

Responsibilities (duties and tasks)

Authorized work:

Assist with clean-up along the trail:

• Trash pick-up
• Removing brush and debris no large than 3 inches in diameter
• Promoting personal safety through use of Personal Protective Equipment for all assigned tasks (PPE provided by park/trail site supervisor).
• Other duties as assigned

Restricted work:

The duties assigned to this volunteer position are laid out above. Tasks pertaining to other programs and projects at this park/trail or any other park or trail unit must be agreed upon in a separate Volunteer Agreement Form.

Qualifications Desired:

Volunteers must be able to:

• reach overhead
• bend over
• squat/kneel down without restriction

Safety Training:

DNR safety training must be completed prior to starting your volunteer experience if participating in activities involving any of these:

• Chainsaws
• Herbicide application
• ATVs
• Snowmobiles
• Watercraft
• Trailers
