On behalf of the Government of Alberta, APEGA regulates the practices of engineering and geoscience in Alberta. With almost 70,000 members, APEGA is the largest association of self-regulated professionals in Western Canada. APEGA is governed by a council of elected professionals and public appointees who provide strategic leadership, financial oversight, and sound governance for the organization.

APEGA’s Nominating Committee is responsible for overseeing the recruitment and evaluation processes that ensure a slate of qualified candidates is presented to the membership for election each year. The Nominating Committee is appointed by council and once established, has the authority to function independently from council.

Both APEGA members and public volunteers play an important role in this committee. The APEGA members provide a keen understanding of the professions and responsibilities of self-regulation, and lay members expand the diversity of skills, knowledge, experience, and transparency of the committee.
