Current Volunteer Openings - English LINC Class Support Volunteer (Rohingya, Pashto, Arabic, and Mandarin Needed)
The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Surrey Settlement and Family Program is looking for volunteers to assist their English LINC classes, supporting clients learning English by providing interpretation and helping with classroom instruction. If you are looking for a fulfilling volunteer role that helps newcomers on their English language journey and speak either Rohingya, Pashto, Arabic, or Mandarin, this may be the opportunity for you!
English LINC Class Support Volunteer (Rohingya, Pashto, Arabic, and Mandarin Needed)
Location: #15117 101 Ave, Surrey and/or #15400 Croydon Dr, Surrey)
Dates:
- Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-12:00pm
- Monday-Thursday, 12:30pm-3:00pm
- Monday-Wednesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm
- Thursday, 6:30pm-9:00pm
- Friday-Saturday, 9:00am-12:00pm
- Volunteer does not need to be available for all times, as we will be recruiting multiple volunteers to fill in these times
Duties:
- Provide interpretation in one of the languages listed above
- Assist instructor with classroom instructions and classwork as needed
Qualifications:
- Advanced in English
- Fluent in either Rohingya, Pashto, Arabic, or Mandarin
- Willing to get a free Criminal Record Check
- Background in language teaching is an asset, but not mandatory
