City of Edmonton - Volunteer Weed Pull Program

Terwillegar Dog Park Weed Pull Details 

This park isn’t just for dog owners, as the largest off-leash area in Edmonton, Terwillegar dog park has river access, bike trails, and even public art. 

Meeting Location

Weed Pull Location 

Parking: There is free parking in an unpaved parking lot.

Transit: There is no transit close or directly to the weed pull location.

Biking: The dog park is a part of the larger Edmonton River Valley, there are connecting trails to enter from the north and the south. However, there is no bike rack at the weed pull site. You can lock your bike to a signpost or tree, and we will be off-trail in an area where you will always be able to see your bike. 

Weed Pull Site: 

We will be working on removing burdock, field scabious and more. The site is mostly flat and in full view from the adjacent street. There is long grass located where we will be pulling. Gloves and tools will be provided. City of Edmonton staff will meet volunteers at the main parking lot.

The site is accessed by walking from the parking lot through mowed grass (60 meters). The site is not shaded but there is a treestand close by if volunteers would like a break in the shade. The terrain is relatively even and vegetated with grasses and small shrubs. If there are fallen trees and other hidden hazards, City staff will point out and/or flag. 

Washrooms: 

There are public portable washrooms on site. 

Other Site Details:

• The site is located at an off-leash area. It is likely we will encounter dogs.

• The park is usually quite busy but not typically noisy. There is a popular cycling trail nearby but we will remain far enough away from it.
