Pulling Together - Restoration Assistant

As a Restoration Assistant, you would be part of the main hands-on workforce behind an ecological restoration projects and follow the direction of a Lead Steward and Saanich staff. All Restoration Assistants receive a program orientation and are invited to learning and appreciation opportunities throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
- Perform restoration tasks (such as removing invasive species, planting native species, spreading mulch, caring for trees, etc...) as directed by your Lead Steward and Saanich staff
- Follow all Saanich policies and procedures, especially safety-related ones
- Consult Lead Steward or staff before trying new approaches and ideas
- Share your knowledge gained at different sites
Qualifications:
- Love for the outdoors and supporter of parks
- Willing to get dirty working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Physically fit enough to work on uneven terrain
- Able to work well with others and take direction
- Have tried a few drop-in sessions of Pulling Together and want a more formal commitment to the program
Commitment and Schedule:
Work parties typically last about two hours, and the schedule varies by location. Restoration Assistants are volunteers who provide ongoing support to one or more Pulling Together projects, committing for a longer-term period than drop-in volunteers.

- Sign paperwork: Waiver, Code of Conduct, and (optional) Photo/Video Release
- Complete online orientation (30 minutes).
