This June we're launching our first Vacation Bible School summer camp at St. Vincent's Villa to emphasize God's steadfast love for the children. The camp is called Rainforest Falls! Volunteers will help facilitate the main sessions (including scripture-based themes and worship music) and then specialize in Games or Craft activities through which the children will further explore the theme of the day.
In addition to standard background screening, volunteers for camp weeks must be at least 16 years old and attend Pre-Service Training. Camp Volunteers will commit to all four days of camp (June 22-25), plus one planning/prep session on Tuesday, May 19 from 4-6PM at St. Vincent's Villa.
Children from St. Vincent's Villa Residential Treatment Center participate in summer camp activities with our Spiritual Development Coordinator, Recreational Therapist and volunteers. Activities include a range of sports, crafts, and hands-on lessons designed to further the treatment goals of children with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities, aged 5-13. Volunteers provide support by keeping children engaged and by assisting with set-up and clean-up.
This camp takes place during a rare "Break Week" for the children who typically have an extended school year. Activities take place in the morning, and the children attend in groups of approximately 20, moving from a Main session to games to crafts related to the day's theme.
