Special Events - Minneopa Field Days

 

Purpose (why we are doing this):

Volunteers assist with Minneopa Field Day stations for area biology students. Join natural resource professionals at Minneopa State Park to help local highschoolers experience and learn about natural resources.

 

Impact this position will have:

Spark youth interest in natural resources, conservation and the great outdoors while meeting statewide educational requirements and provide hands-on learning opportunities. 

 

Responsibilities (duties and tasks)

  • Assist Minneopa Field Day leaders with station assignments.
  • Guide and lead high school aged students with hands on natural resource activities.

 

Restricted work:

The duties assigned to this volunteer position are laid out above. Tasks pertaining to other programs and projects at this park/trail or any other park or trail unit must be agreed upon in a separate Volunteer Agreement Form.

 

Qualifications Desired:

Volunteer must be able to:

  • carry 30 pounds
  • walk up to 5 miles over uneven terrain
  • ability to stand for up to 6 hours
  • reach overhead
  • bend over
  • squat/kneel down without restriction

  • Hazards and Unsafe Conditions
  • Heat and Cold Related Illness
  • Poisonous and Hazardous Plants
  • Tickborne Illness
  • Tick Prevention and Symptoms
  • UV Radiation (Sun Protection)
