On-going Programs - Pollinator Posse

Due to a range of factors, including disease, overuse of pesticides, and habitat loss, pollinator populations across the globe are declining. Some species, such as the monarch butterfly, have declined 80 - 90% over the last few decades.

To help turn the tide, Boise Parks and Recreation is working hard to provide high quality, pollinator habitat by planting, monitoring and maintaining both formal and informal pollinator areas in Boise Parks. These areas can be fairly labor intensive to maintain, however, which is where you come in!

We are looking for some pollinator champions to help us care for these important areas. Volunteers will help plant new pollinator plants as needed, add ground cover to planting beds, remove weeds, monitor for pollinator use, etc.

Beginning in March, work parties occur on Tuesday mornings, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., in the spring and fall. Work parties shift to 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. from mid-June through August, to avoid the heat of the day. Details about each week's work party, including meeting location and project details will be sent via email a week in advance.

Join us for this important program, to help us care for our local pollinator habitat!
