Library Events & Programs - Storytime Helper

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers who love working with toddlers and preschoolers and can commit to a weekly schedule!

Volunteers will be assisting our Staff Storyteller by singing songs alongside them, helping handle props, doing crowd control, and helping set up/clean up. You will also assist with other tasks after Storytime such as straightening up the playscape area and shelving picture books.

Our attendees love seeing consistent volunteers and getting to know them! Therefore, this position requires a minimum 4-month commitment. A quick screening and a completed background check is required of all adult volunteers 20 years old+.  If selected for this program, volunteers will be trained by DCL staff.

One Opening per day is available - there are 6 weekly shifts available.  Day/Times are as follows:

  • Mondays 9:45am-11:45am
  • Tuesdays 9:45am-11:45am
  • Wednesday 9:45am-11:45am
  • Thursdays 9:45am-11:45am
  • Fridays 9:45am-11:45am
  • Saturdays 10am-11:30am
First time volunteering for Douglas County Libraries? Please email Sonia Bates to schedule a required new volunteer orientation before your first shift.

If you need to cancel, please do so at least 4 days in advance to allow us time to find another volunteer to fill this important spot.
