Client Programming - Activity and Skills Building Volunteer
The Activity and Skill-Building Volunteer plans and leads engaging activities, workshops, or one-on-one sessions that help residents build practical skills, confidence, and personal growth. This volunteer helps create a supportive, encouraging environment that reflects the mission and values of Catholic Charities of Baltimore.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and lead individual or group activities (e.g., life skills, educational, recreational, or creative sessions)
- Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction/support tailored to participants' needs and skill levels
- Encourage participation and create a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all skill levels
- Set up and clean up activity space and materials before/after sessions
- Track attendance and provide brief updates or notes to staff on participant engagement or progress
- Adapt activities as needed to accommodate different abilities, interests, and group sizes
- Uphold client confidentiality at all times
Shifts are Weekends and Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (flexible; volunteers may choose specific days that fit their schedule)

About us:
The Weinberg Housing and Resource Center (WHRC) is a low barrier emergency shelter that provides homeless services to over 275 adult men and women each night in the City of Baltimore. Our services include shelter, convalescent care, breakfast and dinner, showers, laundry, case management and a variety of life skills and empowerment classes -- with a focused goal on assisting residents in obtaining permanent housing.
