Seniors respite care gives older people the opportunity to take a break from their usual routine, enjoy new experiences and connect with others, while giving carers valuable time to rest and recharge.
Set among spacious gardens in Ocean Grove our Respite Centre is a welcoming place to spend the day.
Our centre-based day respite program offers a range of activities that encourage social connection, independence and enjoyment. Activities are tailored to visitor interests, whether they enjoy getting creative, playing games, having a chat, getting out and about or simply spending time with others.
As an Activities Assistant Volunteer, you will support staff in delivering enjoyable and engaging activities for older people attending our centre-based day respite program.
You may assist with:
- Arts, crafts and creative activities
- Board games and group activities
- Conversation and social engagement
- Spending quality one-on-one time with guests
- Encouraging participation and promoting inclusion
No two days are the same, and your presence can make a meaningful difference to someone's wellbeing and enjoyment.
Please note: A genuine understanding of (or willing to learn), and compassion for, people living with dementia is essential for this role
Role Hours: Tuesday – Thursday, 10:00 - 3:00pm. You may offer the whole day or bite sized shift.
