EVENT DESCRIPTION:
The Markham Youth EXPO is an annual event endorsed by the Mayor of Markham, celebrating youth achievements during Youth Week. This year, it will take place on Sunday May 2nd 2026, from 3 pm to 9 pm at the Aaniin Community Centre. The EXPO will feature a plethora of activities for all ages, including robotics, job fairs, cultural foods, and a spotlight on local small businesses. There's something for everyone to enjoy at the EXPO!

MANDATORY ORIENTATION/TRAINING:
- Date: Sunday, April 26th, 2026
- Time: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Orientation is mandatory and will be counted towards your volunteer hours. You are required to check-in and check-out to get your community service hours.

KEY DUTIES:
You will be a Volunteer at EXPO and help run the activities at EXPO.
- Event is outdoors
- Greet and welcome participants to the event
- Assist with activities such as leading and supervising games
- Set-up and take-down, with the help of staff
- Report any safety issues to direct supervisor
- Assist with supervision of participants, ensuring their safety at all times
- Provide all participants with a positive experience
REQUIRED SKILLS:

Minimum age of 14

Strong communication skills

Comfortable speaking and welcoming guests on site

Ability to take direction.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

High levels of commitment, enthusiasm and individual responsibility.

Comfortable volunteering outdoors.
REQUIREMENTS: (you will be assigned only if you have the following)
- General Online Orientation Workshop (quiz) & AODA training (quiz)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Interview – Event Assistant or higher
- Review the Code of Conduct for Recreation facilities [PDF]
- Complete the online MMYC Volunteer Training Package (sent through email once selected)
- Attend mandatory orientation/training on April 27th.
