Countywide Natural Resources - 6.04 - 9.19: RROC Hoop House Volunteers

REGISTER FOR SHIFTS THROUGH SIGN UP GENIUS.COM HERE

General Description

Dakota County utilizes a plant propagation program in which we collect seed from local native plants and then do our best to grow these plants for self-sufficient and sustainable restoration efforts within our parks and green spaces. In addition to our hoop house located within Lebanon Hills Regional Park, we also rent hoop house space from the University of Minnesota’s Rosemount Research & Outreach Center (RROC). We use this hoop house primarily as a site to grow native wetland plants we’ll be using in ecological restorations.

Tasks will include sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, washing and organizing growing containers, watering plants and other miscellaneous projects around the hoop house. We’ll work together on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11am from June 4 to September 19. Come as regularly as you’d like or sign up for a few volunteer slots throughout the season. Your level of involvement is up to you!
