Tri-Cities - Patient & Public Experience Program Activities - Eagle Ridge Hospital - Social Program - One to One Visitor
PROGRAM SUMMARY
This program seeks to improve the lives of the elderly patients through regular social interaction and engagement. One to One volunteer visitors would fulfill this role through games, card games, reading, conversation, and transporting the patients if they are comfortable. Volunteers in this program will provide meaningful and genuine interaction, enriching the lives of patients in Eagle Ridge Hospital.
PROGRAM GOAL
Provide social interaction for patients to improve mental health
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Log into Time clock
- Adhere to infection control signage
- Have meaningful interactions with patients
- Engage them with activities such as games, books, or movement if permitted
- May visit multiple patients in a single shift
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Comfortable with speaking to new individuals
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to employ skills of compassion and empathy
- Demonstrates competency in English, including ability to understand and be understood; Other languages considered an asset
- Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with patients with cognitive impairments or language limitations due to a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages and uniqueness
- Demonstrates courteous, mature, caring nature and employs active-listening skills
