📃 This volunteer opportunity will help to assist the Lifestyle Team to support and encourage residents taking part in daily activities and social interactions that foster enjoyment and a sense of belonging 

This role is best suited to people who are genuinely interested in enhancing the quality of life of older people living in residential care through  social, recreational engagement and making meaningful connections.

📍Location: BlueCare | Woodlands Lodge Residential Aged Care Facility, 29 Melbourne Road, Arundel Qld 4214  

 

👉🏼 About Us: Woodlands Lodge Residential Aged Care Facility may not be a modern build, but it is rich in history and charm. To over 70 Residents it is home and offers a place of comfortfamiliarity and a welcoming atmosphere.

Residents' rooms are surrounded by winding paths and cottage gardens all leading to the Rotunda Cafe' where everyone is welcome to spend time relaxing in its calm and homely atmosphere. 

 

✅ What you’ll be doing: 

 

 ▪️Assists prepare group and individual activities for residents (games, craft, music, reading, gardening) 

▪️Support residents to participate in activities according to their ability and interests 

 ▪️Help set up and pack away resources and maintain activity spaces 

 ▪️Encourage inclusion & participation amongst residents in a respectful and courteous manner 

 ▪️ Accompany residents on walks within the facility, where appropriate.   Wheelchair training is provided. 

 ▪️Observe and report any changes in residents' wellbeing to the Lifestyle Team 

▪️Always be respectful of resident's dignity & choices 

 ▪️Assists prepare for special events and celebrations during the calendar year

🕑 Times: Monday to Friday activities 9am to 11.30am or all day depending on volunteers' availability

☑️ Skills and experience important for this role include: 

       

Activity All Rounder Volunteers:

 

▪️Should have good communication skills and a positive, empathetic approach 

 

 ▪️Should be friendly, patient and enjoy social interaction and conversation 

 

▪️Previous experience in Aged Care is not required 

 

▪️An interest in craft, music, art, age-appropriate games or gardening is desirable but not essential. 

 

▪️This role is suited to anyone 18+ who is wanting to learn more about aging in Australian society or simply wants to give back to their community.       

▪️Centrelink volunteers needing to commit to 15hrs per week are welcome to apply.
