Taum Sauk Mountain State Park Hosting Duties

  • Collect camp fees regularly, entering all relevant information the RS2 reservation system. 
  • Follow the Missouri State Parks cash handling procedure when handling camp fees. 
  • Inform patrons of park rules
  • Make determinations when to contact supervisor or law-enforcement personnel.
  • Clean the pit-latrines at the trail head, campground, and by the MDC fire tower as needed. 
  • Clean fire-rings and grills as needed.
  • Pick up trash from the park and MDC fire tower area. 
  • Light maintenance, including, but not limited to weed-eating, leaf blowing, mowing, etc. 

Other information/Requirements

  • Hosts will work approximately 35 – 40 hours each week.  (Roughly 5 hours each day)
  • Host must work independently, making determinations when to contact supervisor or law-enforcement personnel. The closest park staff is located at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park, approximately 25 miles away. 
  • A maximum stay of three months will be permitted
  • Park will reimburse campground host (maximum of $200) for travel to the site. 
  • Use of own vehicle may be required and will be reimbursed at the IRS mileage rate

Qualifications Required

  • Sterling Volunteers Background Check Determination Must be Passed
