Introduction

Since 1934, the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) has been providing cutting‑edge treatment and compassionate care to patients from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds in Montreal, throughout Quebec and beyond. As one of the province’s largest and busiest acute-care hospitals, this 637‑bed McGill University teaching hospital admits more than 25 000 patients a year, while handling at least 500 000 outpatient visits, 91 000 emergency visits and more than 4 500 births on an annual basis. Volunteering in the Hospital:

  • Provide guidance and direction to ensure the smooth flow of patients, other healthcare users and visitors through our hospitals;
  • Support healthcare workers in various departments and clinics;
  • Develop experience in a wide range of care units, including Emergency;
  • Participating in special activities, such as the CIUSSS Farmers’ Market and the Jewish General Hospital’s Jazz Festival.
