Thank you for showing an interest in volunteering with Jersey Hospice Care.
Many people think that hospices are places of sadness focused on death and dying. In fact, our focus is on well-being and living well. Our care is about so much more than the specialist palliative treatment of a person’s physical symptoms. We help each person we care for to get the best out of every day and to make each day count.
Jersey Hospice Care is a registered charity and makes no charge to patients. The annual cost to run our charitable services in 2017 was in excess of £5.9 million (£16,200 per day). Funding for our care services is thanks to the generosity of islanders.
Volunteering is all about making a difference to other peoples lives. At Hospice we simply couldn't deliver the services we do if it wasn't for the contribution made by our volunteers.
Volunteers work right across every area of our organisation, supporting patients, counselling the bereaved, helping in fundraising and our shops. The time freely given by individuals, like you, helps us to improve the quality of life of adults and young people with life limiting conditions.
Please click the links to the left to have a look at some of the roles we have available or to complete our online application form.
A limited number of under 18's can volunteer in our Fundraising Shops, helping us raise money. If you are 14+ and have permission from a parent or guardian to volunteer, please click here.
'The crux of our mission statement is as pertinent today as it ever was; to enable our patients to live the remainder of their lives to the full, to remain at home if they wish and to die with dignity where they choose'
Jurat Jean King MBE, (1939-2012) founder member of Jersey Hospice Care
