Welcome to volunteering with Toowoomba Regional Council

Our commitment to volunteers

We value the positive and extensive contribution that volunteers make to our community. We are very fortunate that there is strong engagement with volunteers within Council and as a result we have limited vacancies.

Volunteers are involved extensively across Council including:

  • Tourism and events - visitor information centres and Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers
  • Cultural Services - libraries, art galleries and museums
  • Civic celebrations and commemorations - ANZAC Day and Australia Day
  • Maintaining parks, cemeteries, bushland and native nursery
  • Advisory committees
  • Youth leadership program

We accept volunteers aged between 12 years to 92 years.

You will find our current vacancies on this page and can apply if you find something of interest.

Should you not find a current vacancy of interest, we recommend you explore opportunities with other volunteer involving organisations in the Toowoomba region using either the Volunteering Queensland  or Toowoomba Community Directory platforms.

Our commitment to volunteers

Council is committed to meeting best practice standards for volunteer programs and providing a collaborative, supportive, and safe working environment for volunteers. We also aspire to make the volunteer experience an enjoyable and rewarding one for those that partake in our programs. Council volunteers are managed, supported and resourced following the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement, developed by Volunteering Australia.

Council's Vision

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Toowoomba Region whose song lines traverse our lands. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the knowledge, rich traditions and bold ambitions of Australia's First Peoples.

Toowoomba Regional Council has a plan to make this part of Queensland an even more enjoyable place to live and work. Our long-term plan for creating a better future, forged from the contributions of local residents, businesses and organisations, is based on our Vision:

"The Toowoomba Region is a vibrant, inclusive and liveable region where respect for tradition and diversity is embraced"

This is our vision for an area that boasts extraordinary potential – promising employment opportunities, affordable housing, extensive health and community services, education facilities and countless sporting and cultural pursuits.

The Toowoomba Region – the best of city and country.
