Parking & Transportation

With over 1,600 performances from 1,200 artists across 50 venues it takes a village to run the largest Fringe Theatre company in North America - and volunteers are at the heart of it all!

Our Fringe family is comprised of nearly 1,200 dedicated volunteers who help us accommodate more than 850,000 visitors a year. Volunteers help artists and patrons by providing key services such as box office and front of house support. Although we utilize volunteers year round, our greatest need is in August during the Edmonton International Fringe™ Theatre Festival.

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, abilities, and strengths. Our volunteer program centers on team work, respect, and creativity. Below are our requirements:

·         Be 14 years of age or older

·         Attend a two hour orientation session

·         Submit to a background check

·         Serve a minimum of 4 shifts during the 11 day Festival (shifts are approximately 4 hours in length and are available morning, afternoon, and evenings)

Please pick a Volunteer Team from the list on the left and complete the Application Form. (N.B. You only need to apply for one team.)

The Fringe Family

Our Volunteers are the heart of our organization.  Every summer, over 1,200 Volunteers support the operation of all aspects of Edmonton’s favourite festival and donate more than 19,000 hours to the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival.  Each position filled by a Volunteer is a position that we know will be filled with passion, excitement, and energy.  For this security, we thank you.

Our Volunteers are what separate us from many other large arts organizations in Alberta.  More than 5% of our Volunteers have been volunteering with the Fringe for over 10 years.  Some Volunteers have even been with the Fringe festival since the very beginning - A Fringe Theatre Event in 1982.

For those of you who are just joining us for your first festival, welcome to North America’s largest celebration of uncensored, unjuried theatre.

Happy Fringing!
