Western Australia Museum

Volunteers play an integral role at the Western Australian Museum, enriching the visitor experience, programs and research beyond the skills and resources of our staff.

Volunteer opportunities include front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH):

Front of House volunteers enrich the visitor experience through friendly customer service and supporting Museum functions in presenting and interpreting gallery and exhibition content, public outreach and education programs.

Front of House volunteer roles:

  • FOH – Exhibitions, Public and Education Programs
  • FOH – Submarine Guides (WA Maritime Museum only)
  • FOH – Robert Steele Exhibition Operators (WA Maritime Museum only)

Back of House volunteers support the work of the Museum’s curatorial and conservation staff and may assist with research, cataloguing, labelling, cross checking and field-work preparation.

Back of House volunteer roles:

  • BOH – Collections & Research

The volunteer program is currently being reviewed, keep checking back for updated roles and opportunities across all our metropolitan and regional sites.
