Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home.
Our volunteers are vital in our fight for home.

Volunteering with Shelter and Shelter Scotland
Volunteers are a vital part of what we do. We help millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support, and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.
How to apply. Use the search menu to view volunteering opportunities. If you find a role that you think you might be suitable for click on the 'fill in an application form' button. From here, we'll be in touch!
Eligibility to volunteer. Just so you know, the minimum age for volunteering with us in our shops is 14 years. We'll ask you to confirm as part of your application that you are aged 14 or over. Our young volunteers are always supervised by two adults, one of which will have the appropriate level of criminal record check in place. In Retail if you are volunteering under the age of 16, the maximum time you can give to volunteering with us, is 2 hours per shift.
Our shops are Covid-19 secure. In line with government guidance, wearing masks is a requirement on our shop floors. We provide gloves, masks, disposable aprons, facial tissues, and face visors for all volunteers and staff who wish to use them.
