Tŷ Hafan - the Hospice for Children in Wales

Volunteer for Tŷ Hafan

Imagine a Wales where every child has access to the services they need, where they need them, and when they need them.

A Wales where families have a choice about the care they receive.

A Wales where no family faces the death of their child alone.

We don’t just imagine this Wales; we believe in it.

But we need your help

At Tŷ Hafan, there are many ways you can support our services as a volunteer and help us to create a Wales where no family lives their child’s short life on their own.

Volunteering for Tŷ Hafan children's hospice is a rewarding and meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Tŷ Hafan provides care to families through life, through death, and beyond. By volunteering for Tŷ Hafan, you can help us to deliver our vital services and support our fundraising efforts.

You can also gain new skills, meet new people and have fun along the way. Whether you want to work directly with the children and families, help out in the hospice, fundraising in the community or in one of our shops, or take part in our events and campaigns, there is a role for you at Tŷ Hafan.

If you want to join the Tŷ Hafan family as a volunteer and take us one step closer to reaching every family in Wales who needs us, don't hesitate to apply today.

You won't regret it!

Not sure what role you're interested in yet or don't currently have the time to fill in an application form? You can fill in a short form Here to register your interest in volunteering.

A member of our Volunteering Team will then be in touch to discuss any opportunities we have available. You can also use this form to tell us if you have an idea for a brand new volunteering role we could introduce, based on your skills and experience.

“Volunteering provides you with absolutely amazing life experiences. For a start, it looks amazing on your CV, and if you are a bit shy, it will help to bring you out of your shell."

"You build relationships – just one example, one old lady would come in to the shop and give me a sweet every Saturday, and that so touches me to this day, to think that she would think of me in this way."

- Lyn Hull (Retail Volunteer, Ambassador, Events and Collection Box Volunteer)

About Tŷ Hafan

When a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own.

We are Tŷ Hafan.

We provide comfort, care and support to children with life-shortening conditions and their loved ones. Too many families in Wales are struggling through the fear, exhaustion and uncertainty that comes with caring for a child whose life will be short.

We believe every child with a life-shortening illness, deserves a life full of happiness and meaningful moments.

In our hospice, and in Welsh communities and family homes, we are here to care for the children and young people who need us, helping to make their short lives as full as they can be and, when the time comes, provide end-of-life care and ongoing bereavement care. Our specialist support also extends to parents, siblings and other family members, offering personalised support to give them strength, make treasured memories together and improve their quality of life.

Put simply, we are a vital lifeline to our families. Easing their worries. Giving them hope of a brighter future. And helping them enjoy life again.

Our Ambition

When a family is caring for a child whose life will be short, they often face a daily struggle without the care and support they need. At the moment, 90% of families in Wales whose child’s life will be short are not receiving the support they need. This should not be allowed to happen.

Our ambition is that when a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own. We believe that every family should have access to the care they need through life, death and beyond. We know this is a big ambition and we know it won’t be easy, but we believe that together we can make sure that no family in Wales faces their child’s short life on their own.

At the moment we only have enough money to support 10% of the families who need our support. You can help us to reach every family who needs us.
