Volunteer Requirements & Policies
Adult Volunteer Program Requirements
- Adult volunteers must 18 years of age or older on the date of application.
- Must commit to volunteering 60 hours annually.
- $50 administration fee. This helps to defer a portion of the cost of a criminal background check, shirt, and name badge.
You agree to:
- Follow all volunteer program and Space Center Houston guidelines.
- Bring an enthusiastic and positive attitude to each volunteer shift.
- Submit to a criminal background check
- Attend a volunteer interview
- Attend a New Volunteer Orientation
- Volunteer at least 60 hours annually (an average of 5 hours per month). This requirement may be prorated for those joining mid-year.
We agree to provide:
- Complimentary tickets based on volunteer service hours milestones
- Discounts at the Space Center Houston Gift Shop and the Food Lab
- Discounts on many events and unique experiences
- A volunteer pass allowing you to entry when you aren't volunteering
- Training and other learning opportunities
- Special volunteer events and recognition awards
- An opportunity to meet interesting people, develop skills and experience personal growth
- A rewarding feeling from serving the community and having a positive effect on the guests that visit us from around the world
