Volunteers Do Not Work With or Around Potter Park Zoo Animals

A common question we get is "Do I get to interact with or work around any of the animals?"

Here at Potter Park Zoo, we have many needs for volunteer help that ultimately assist us with our mission of inspiring conservation of animals and the natural world.  Volunteer opportunities can be in the form of beautifying our zoo by raking leaves, assisting with a fundraising event, various special projects and with a little extra training, help at our Conservation Education Stations or give a zoo tour.  All of these volunteer roles help us forward our mission.

However, we just want to make sure you know - our volunteers do not interact with or work around our animals.  These tasks are done by our trained animal care staff. However, we always encourage volunteers to come see our zoo residents during their free time.

By checking "yes," you acknowledge you have been made aware that volunteering at Potter Park Zoo does not include working with or closely around our animal residents.

Thank you for understanding.
