COVID-19 update from Ontario SPCA to our volunteers:
Thank you for being willing to roll up your sleeves and help animals in your community during these challenging and uncertain times. We appreciate your dedication and support as we work together for the well-being of vulnerable animals.
In an effort to do our part to support efforts to control COVID-19, we have temporarily suspended our volunteer program and closed our animal centres to the public. The health, safety and well-being of our visitors, staff, volunteers and animals remains our first priority.
We want to assure you that even though our facilities are temporarily closed, we continue to provide the same high level of care that we always have to the animals at our centres. Every animal that comes to us receives an individual care plan, which includes enrichment activities to keep them happy, healthy and socialized. We are following rigorous cleaning protocols and have implemented social distancing measures for animal care staff.
If the current situation changes and we need additional support, we will reach out to our registered volunteers for support and instructions on how you can help. In the meantime, if you would like to help the animals in our care, there are several ways to get involved:
- Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and share our messages with your family and friends
- Donate food to your local food bank, such as pet food, canned vegetables and milk, eggs and cheese
- If you’re able to, consider providing support for the animals in our care with a donation at ontariospca.ca
Thank you for your continued support. Wishing you good health.
