Volunteer Policies Overview

Volunteer Records: ISR maintains confidential volunteer records, including applications, background checks, and training history. Volunteers are responsible for keeping their information current.

Background Checks: ISR is required by law to conduct Washington State Patrol criminal background checks for all volunteers upon application and on a regular basis thereafter.

Training: All volunteers complete orientation, program training, and ongoing education as needed.

Safety: Report any injury or incident immediately to your supervisor. ISR strives to provide a safe and healthy environment for all.

Harassment-Free Environment: ISR prohibits discrimination or harassment of any kind. Report any concerns to your supervisor right away.

Confidentiality (HIPAA): Volunteers must safeguard the privacy of clients and share personal information only with program managers when appropriate.

Mandatory Reporting: Volunteers are legally required to report any suspected abuse or neglect of older adults. Procedures will be reviewed during training.

Public Statements: Volunteers may not speak on behalf of ISR or use ISR materials (such as letterheads or titles) without authorization.

Liability Statement: By submitting this volunteer application, I acknowledge that volunteering with Island Senior Resources (ISR) is at my own risk. I understand that ISR will take reasonable precautions to provide a safe environment but cannot guarantee complete safety from accidents or injuries. I agree to release and hold harmless Island Senior Resources, its staff, and affiliates from any liability, claims, or damages that may arise in connection with my volunteer activities. I also agree to follow all ISR policies, procedures, and safety guidelines while volunteering.
