Toronto Wildlife Centre’s Commitment to You:

Toronto Wildlife Centre (TWC) recognizes that you are generously donating your time to help wild animals. THANK YOU! You’re an extremely important part of TWC’s team, and we are committed to offering you a rewarding experience. We will provide you with the necessary training to properly, confidently, and safely perform your volunteer duties. You will never be required to perform any task that you believe is unsafe or makes you uncomfortable. When possible, you will be offered the opportunity to advance in your position and build your skills.

Your Volunteer Commitment to Toronto Wildlife Centre and our Wild Patients:

As a volunteer, I play an important role in helping wildlife. I agree to fulfill the minimum time commitment required for my volunteer position and will show up for my shifts on time. I will give reasonable notice to my supervisor or volunteer coordinator if I am going to be late, or need to change/cancel my shift. I am aware that each shift I miss impacts the quality of care we provide our patients, may delay my training and advancement, and could result in losing my status as an active TWC volunteer. I understand TWC’s patients are wild and will be released to their natural habitat. Therefore, I agree to not interact with an animal in any way that might affect their rehabilitation. I understand that I must be at least 18 years of age or older and receive proper training to work directly with any wildlife.

Assumption of Risk

I fully understand that while I am volunteering with TWC there is a risk, although minimal, that I may be injured and/or exposed to zoonotic diseases. To minimize risk, I agree to follow health and safety protocols received in orientation, and as part of ongoing training. I agree that I am in good health and will remain current on all vaccinations. I understand that only volunteers vaccinated against rabies and trained to work with rabies vector species will be permitted to do so.

Media Release

I hereby grant full permission to TWC to use any photographs, motion pictures, videotapes, recordings or any other record of my volunteering for any purpose including, without limitation, commercial use. I agree to not represent TWC in any manner to the public without being trained and authorized to do so. I will not take photos or videos of any wild patient or activity at TWC without expressed permission. I agree not to post photos or videos of wild patients or related activities at TWC on any social media platform.

Liability Release

I agree to fully release TWC from all liability for any damages, injury, illness or loss occasioned by me during the course of my volunteer work, including without limitation, any damages, injury or loss, whether arising from this agreement, or a breach thereof, or from any act of negligence or gross negligence by TWC.
