Knox City Council (Council) is committed to protecting your privacy and views privacy of individuals as an integral part of its commitment towards complete accountability and integrity in all its activities and programs.
The personal information requested in Better Impact is being collected by Council for the purpose of creating a profile and will include (name, email and contact details) and to complete an application form to volunteer with Council. Additional personal information may be collected from you through interviews, on-boarding processes, or while volunteering and entered into Better Impact – your volunteer profile page. The collection of some of this information is required by legislation. Council will use this information for the purpose of managing the recruitment, selection, on-boarding, learning and development and ongoing management of volunteers.
The personal information will be used by Council for that primary purpose or directly related secondary purposes as stated above. The information will be accessible to Council’s volunteer managers and supervisors, and People and Culture staff members responsible for volunteer administration or with a business need to access this information. The personal information will not be disclosed to any other external party without your consent, unless permitted or required by law.
Personal information collected in Better Impact will be stored in Canada. Please be aware that you are afforded certain protections and rights under the Victorian Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). To the extent possible Council has sought to ensure that Better Impact upholds fair principles for the handling of the information, and that are substantially similar to the “IPPs” in the Victorian Privacy and Data Collection Act.
If you do not provide the personal information requested, you will not be able to volunteer at Council.
Your personal information (name, email, contact details) can be updated at any time by logging into Better Impact – your volunteer profile page with your username and password. If you wish to access or alter or delete any information you have supplied to Council, when completing an application, please contact: Volunteers@knox.vic.gov.au. You can also contact Better Impact to delete your profile and information from the Better Impact system.
