Greenhill Volunteer Requirements
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Greenhill! Please read the following volunteer requirements. You must agree to these requirements by checking the box below prior to applying. We look forward to seeing you!
- Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older in order to volunteer alone. *Volunteers between the ages of 12-15 can volunteer if accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
- We ask that volunteers commit to at least one 2-hour shift per week or at least 8 hours a month.
- You should possess strong customer service skills and be able to read, write and communicate clearly with staff, other volunteers and the public. You should be able to follow direction, shelter rules, and protocols. We’re always grateful to work with bi-lingual or multi-lingual people.
- If applying for a direct animal care position: dog enrichment, cattery, small animal room - you must be able to sit, bend, squat, twist, and stand for long periods.
- You will need to have access to the internet and an email account.
- You should have reliable transportation to be able to get to our shelter, located at 88530 Greenhill Rd. Eugene, OR 97402.
- For those 18 and over you must pass a standard criminal background check. Note - we are not able to accept volunteers who have committed crimes against minors or other vulnerable populations, charges of theft or assault within the last 7 years OR have felonies or instances of animal abuse/cruelty from any time period.
- Pay the volunteer registration fee ($25 for those 18 and over, $15 for those ages 16-17, & $30 for parent/youth teams.) If the fee is a barrier, please contact us to learn about our scholarship fund.
- Public Relations is an important part of volunteering at Greenhill Humane Society. You agree that Greenhill may use any photographs taken of you for use in Public Relations efforts and training materials.
