Volunteer Policies - Collection of Personal Information and Required Background Checks
Collection of Personal Information
Personal information is collected under subsection 36 (1)(b) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and is protected under the Act. It will be used for emergency contact information and will be shared with supervisors for the purposes of volunteer placement, orientation, training, supervision, and evaluation of the volunteer.
Police Background Check and Child Abuse Registry
Applicants volunteering at Folklorama events outside of the Festival may be required to provide a recent Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check as part of Folklorama's screening process for volunteer applications. Folklorama will only ask for these checks once your application has been officially accepted and if the position/event requires it. Applicants are responsible for any costs associated with obtaining requested background checks. These checks will be kept on file for three (3) years. Please note that for Pavilion volunteer positions, requirement of these background checks is at the Pavilion's discretion. Any questions can be directed to Katie Green, Coordinator, Member & Festival Services, at KGreen@folklorama.ca.
