Volunteer Policies - Collection of Personal Information and Required Background Checks

Collection of Personal Information

Personal information is collected under subsection 36 (1)(b) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and is protected under the Act. It will be used for emergency contact information and will be shared with supervisors for the purposes of volunteer placement, orientation, training, supervision, and evaluation of the volunteer.

Police Background Check and Child Abuse Registry

Applicants applying for one of the following positions are required to provide a recent Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check as part of Folklorama's screening process for volunteer applications:

Folklorama Office
Folklorama Special Events (Outside of Festival)
Folklorama Tour Guides
VIP Tour Registration

Folklorama will only ask for these checks once your application has been officially accepted. These checks will be kept on file for three (3) years. Please note that for Pavilion volunteer positions, requirement of these background checks is at the Pavilion's discretion.
