Volunteer Agreement
As a volunteer, you can expect:
- An experience that connects you to the mission of creating healthy, hunger-free communities
- A clean functional work environment with clear directions given by staff
- Recognition and appreciation from staff
- Knowledge of how your service is improving the community
- A space to have your concerns heard and responded to appropriately
The Food Depot expects volunteers to:
- Read and agree to the content in the Volunteer Handbook
- Keep my contact information (address, email, and phone numbers) updated with the volunteer engagement department
- Perform all volunteer tasks and follow all procedures as outlined per the job description
- Complete any necessary trainings associated with the given job description
- Respect staff, fellow volunteers, and visitors to The Food Depot and The Food Depot facilities
- Comply with basic recordkeeping requests and scheduling parameters
- Comply with COVID-safety, food-safety, and clean-up requirements
- Work as a team to complete volunteer tasks efficiently and to the best of their ability
- Remain flexible with changing project needs
- Clearly communicate needs in a timely manner
- Continue volunteering for the duration of the scheduled session or until a project is complete
- Arrive promptly for all scheduled volunteer shifts and notify my program coordinator if I will be late or unable to complete my shift
- Ask questions if I am unsure of how to do something
- Refrain from allowing guests who are not volunteers to accompany me during my shift
- Notify a staff member immediately if I am injured during my volunteer shift
- Communicate any concerns I have with potential solutions to my program coordinator or the Volunteer Coordinator
- Preserve the confidentiality of information entrusted to me, including information on individuals utilizing any services The Food Depot provides
- Never volunteer under the influence of alcohol or other mind-altering substances
- Refer all media communications to the Community Engagement Coordinator or Volunteer Program Manager (Media include TV, radio, newspaper and internet as well as posting information on websites about The Food Depot)
- Provide excellent customer service and form positive and professional relationship with staff and my fellow volunteers
- Most importantly, enjoy myself and have a positive experience
