Information for Volunteer Applicants / Renseignements pour les candidats aux postes de bénévoles
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Ottawa Network for Education! Please note that all volunteer positions require careful screening and a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).
Volunteers will be given a personalized letter to waive the fee for the PVSC but we are not able to reimburse volunteers if you have already paid the application fee.
Not all applicants will be accepted.
The registration process takes about 15 minutes. ONFE Volunteers in Education (VIE) requires all volunteers to read the following information carefully before proceeding.
You will need to have the names and contact information ready for 2 references that have known you for over 2 years (one of whom can be a family member), and your emergency contact person information.
By submitting personal information to ONFE, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information per our privacy policy, which can be reviewed by clicking here.
OCDSB schools welcome community volunteers of all cultures and abilities. Volunteer positions are available to groups and individuals.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Also, we are recruiting volunteers to be tutors and mentors for Indigenous, newcomer/immigrant, and LGBTQ2+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgendered, two-spirit, intersex and queer individuals/communities) students. Research indicates that matching volunteers to students with shared experiences benefits the students' progress.
