Volunteering at Youville Residence
- Youville volunteers are highly valued by staff, residents and their families. Volunteers add a very special dimension to the lives of our long-term care residents and your time and efforts are an important element in Brock Youville’s commitment to quality care.
- We ask for a minimum 4-month or 30 hour commitment and that you come in to volunteer once a week for about 1-2 hours each week, depending on the position. We also require our volunteers to be a minimum of 16 years old.
- Volunteer duties usually involve assistance with setting up for activities, escorting residents to activities, visiting with residents, encouraging them to participate and assisting staff as required.
- Volunteers assist in a variety of areas including: recreation programs, visiting, music therapy, chapel support, rehabilitation and exercise.
- Most of our volunteer opportunities take place weekdays between 9am-4pm but we do have some opportunities early evening and weekends.
- Completion of a Criminal Records Review is required for volunteering as is being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (be at least 7 days post dose 2).
- Volunteers are required to get an annual flu shot or wear a mask during flu season (December to April).
