Organization Policies

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Nova Vita Domestic Violence Prevention Services. Once you have submitted an application, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you as soon as a potential program match has been identified.

There is more information about Nova Vita and volunteering on our website http://novavita.org/

We are a small organization and our volunteer needs vary. We try to accommodate as many volunteers as possible, but this is not always feasible. We appreciate your patience and understanding when this occurs.

If you have any questions, or need suggestions for organizations that may be able to accommodate more volunteers, please contact our Volunteer & Donations Coordinator at 519-752-1005 x 216.

Once your skills and interests match an available volunteer position, you will be invited to attend a volunteer interview. You will be asked to submit one personal reference, one work reference and a police background check with the vulnerable sector screening. It is always helpful to let your references know that we will be contacting them. This will help secure a speedy response, as it is necessary we receive their feedback before your application moves forward.

All volunteer positions have a position description that defines roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities. A written description of the tasks and responsibilities that are a part of services provided by a volunteer, will be given to each volunteer and reviewed with the coordinator or department supervisor. Absolute confidentiality is to be maintained at all times.  All volunteers are required to read and sign an “Oath of Confidentiality”.  Continued involvement with Nova Vita is dependent upon compliance with the terms and conditions of Nova Vita's Oath of Confidentiality.

We have developed a volunteer manual to help familiarize volunteers with our organization and to understand the policies and procedures that will guide their day-to-day activities while volunteering with Nova Vita Domestic Violence Prevention Services. We expect that our volunteers will abide by our volunteer policies and procedures as outlined in this manual.
