These are the requirements to volunteer at Holland Bloorview as a member of our 2026 March Break program:
- I can commit to 40 hours over 5 full days, 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m., for the week of March Break (16th - 20th, 2026). I have no planned absences (e.g. appointments, classes, day trips, etc.). Reliability is key. Volunteering at Holland Bloorview is a commitment. The clients at Holland Bloorview rely on you, the volunteer, to participate in programs.
- I am a minimum of 16 years of age (on or before March 1, 2026)
- I can participate in mandatory onboarding training (in person/online eLearning) as required by my program allocation.
- I will complete all volunteer onboarding requirements including but not limited to, immunization record and vulnerable sector check, as applicable for my age and program allocation.
- I have been vaccinated against influenza and have proof of vaccination or I am willing to sign a declaration form regarding my decision not to be vaccinated.
Volunteers will be expected to do everything possible to prevent the spread of the flu at our sites and getting the flu shot is an effective way to do this. In the event of an influenza outbreak among inpatient clients, therapeutic recreation volunteers who have not been vaccinated may not be eligible to attend program. In this situation, the Volunteer Resources department may not be able to offer an alternate placement.
The influenza vaccine requires 14 days to reach full effectiveness, so we encourage vaccination as early as possible.
