Guidlines for a successful experience with Juniper
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Juniper.
Before we go much further, we find it is easier to complete the application on a larger screen device, not a phone. iPad, laptop or desktop computer is much better.
We have guidelines to ensure you enjoy your experience, and keep yourself and our residents safe.
In addition to our mission of 'a good life for all', and our values of Welcome, Respect, Compassion and Hope, we must comply with statutory requirements such as the Aged Care Act. This Act stipulates you must have a current Police Certificate and sign a statutory declaration you have not committed serious crime overseas. We can arrange both at no cost to you during later stages of the process to become a volunteer.
What you can expect from Juniper:
You can expect your role will be outlined before you commence and you will be inducted into your role, any equipment you will use and the care facility. You will be supported in your role.
You will be informed who your onsite Manager or Supervisor is and who your go-to person is.
Working in Aged Care can be challenging and emotionally draining. We have a caring team of Pastoral Care staff that are there for you, and so is the Coordinator of Volunteers.
You will not be asked to participate in any personal care activities with residents.
What we will expect:
That you complete the application form correctly and let us know anything that may affect your ability or motives to volunteer your time with us.
That once you are placed in a role, that you regard it as a normal job in terms of attending on time, notifying if you are going to be absent, not attending if you are unwell, respond appropriately to direction from Juniper staff and behave in an acceptable manner in the workplace.
That you maintain the confidentiality of the residents circumstances and condition to within the facility. Residents must be assured their privacy will be respected and protected.
In summary, by continuing with this application:
(a) You understand that Juniper insurance covers you as a volunteer for public liability and severe personal accidents whilst performing volunteer work, but does not cover you for minor accidents, or your vehicle or any other vehicle involved. You understand you are not covered by workers compensation.
(b) You understand that confidentiality is of the utmost importance in all matters.
(c) You interpret voluntary duty to mean that you have agreed to offer your services on the understanding that no financial remuneration will be received in return for them.
(d) In making this application for volunteer employment, you declare that all answers given above are true to the best of your knowledge.
(e) You authorise Juniper to contact your referees.
If your principal purpose of applying to volunteer is to gain employment, please do not continue with this application. Paid work roles can be applied for at www.juniper.org.au/careers
