FFP General Volunteer Policies
Volunteer Policies
Volunteer policies support a safe, respectful, and meaningful experience for everyone at FFP. These policies outline what can be expected from FFP—and what FFP expects from valued volunteers.
Violation of FFP policy may result in review and evaluation of the volunteer’s role, and possible disciplinary action.
Confidentiality
FFP is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of all client and organizational information. Volunteers may have access to sensitive data about clients, staff, fellow volunteers, and operations. Breaches of confidentiality will be taken seriously.
Dignity and Justice
All individuals at FFP - clients, staff, and volunteers - deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. Many clients may be experiencing difficult life circumstances. Volunteers are expected to foster a welcoming, non-judgmental, and compassionate environment at all times.
Equal Opportunity
FFP is an equal opportunity organization committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment for all. FFP does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, creed, sex, age, religion, citizenship status, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, veteran status, political affiliation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
FFP will make reasonable accommodations as possible for volunteers with known disabilities, provided those accommodations do not create undue hardship or pose a risk to safety.
In accordance with the The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) agreement, all FFP staff and volunteers are required to review and sign the annual Civil Rights Training agreement on an annual basis.
Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination
FFP strictly prohibits any form of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. Volunteers must not engage in any conduct that disrupts others’ work or creates a hostile or offensive environment. Any complaints or concerns should be directed to the Executive Director.
Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment is unlawful and will not be tolerated. It includes unwelcome advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. All staff and volunteers must avoid behavior that could be perceived as harassment.
Theft
FFP has a zero-tolerance policy regarding theft. Any volunteer found consuming or taking pantry food or property without explicit staff permission will be immediately dismissed. This includes, but is not limited to, food, organizational supplies, or personal belongings of others.
Drug-Free Environment
To ensure a safe and healthy environment, FFP prohibits the use, possession, or distribution of drugs, alcohol, or intoxicating substances while volunteering, or on pantry property. Volunteers must report for service sober and unimpaired.
Weapons Policy
To maintain a safe environment, FFP does not allow firearms, knives with blades over three inches, or any other dangerous weapons on site or during any pantry-related activity. This policy applies regardless of any license or permit.
Court-Mandated and Community Service Volunteers
FFP accepts court-mandated volunteers on a case-by-case basis. These potential volunteers must disclose the nature of their conviction on their application. FFP does not place volunteers with the following offenses: theft, violence against people, vandalism, disorderly conduct, or felonies. The pantry reserves the right to limit, condition, or terminate service at any time for safety and organizational integrity.
