City of Long Beach Volunteer Policies & Procedures
- Volunteers work on days and hours assigned to them unless previous arrangements have been made with the Volunteer Coordinator/Supervisor.
- Volunteers must inform the appropriate staff member if they are unable to work an assigned shift.
- The hours a volunteer donates must be within the scope of their assigned position unless other arrangements have been made with the Volunteer Coordinator/Supervisor.
- Volunteers must not give out news releases or press releases, or speak to the press or media on behalf of the City of Long Beach.
- Volunteers must never represent themselves as staff or City employees.
- Telephone usage must be job-related and approved by staff.
- The use of City vehicles by a volunteer is not permitted.
- City staff must never provide transportation to volunteers in City or personal vehicles.
- Volunteers are encouraged to contact their Volunteer Coordinator/Supervisor regarding assignments, hours, additional opportunities, concerns, issues or requests, etc.
- If a volunteer suspects a possible incident of senior or child abuse, he or she must immediately report such suspicions to his or her Coordinator/ Supervisor.
- Volunteers are expected to follow the same policies and procedures as City employees regarding discrimination or harassment of any type, computer usage, threats and violence in the workplace, alcohol and drug use, and identification cards.
