MEOW Foundation Policies

1. Confidentiality
MEOW Foundation (MEOW) is committed to ensuring the privacy, confidentiality and integrity of the information we collect, use and disclose in the provision of care and services and in our business operations. During your association with MEOW and thereafter, you must keep confidential, refrain from disclosing to others and use only in the performance of your volunteer duties, all MEOW’s confidential information that you learn about in the course of your volunteer duties or association with MEOW. This agreement covers all confidential business and technical information and other know-how which would not generally be known outside MEOW and which you have not been authorized to disclose or use. Examples of confidential information include, but are not limited to:
● Records and proprietary documents, including policies, operating practices, handbooks, manuals, information on MEOW cats, client/adopter/rescuer/caregiver lists and client/adopter/rescuer/caregiver contact information, account lists, financial information and records, employee and volunteer information, copies of grants, purchase requirements, pricing and sales policies, and business plans.
● Information on finances, except that which is already in the public domain
● Membership and donors, including names and/or any other identifying information
● Volunteer or staff performance
● Program development, marketing, and/or future business plans
● The medical and/or behavioural condition of MEOW Foundation cats and kittens
● The names of adopters, rescuers or any other person associated with any of MEOW’s programs
● The rescue location of any cat or kitten
● And all other information received from any source which MEOW has agreed to keep confidential.
2. Respectful Workplace
MEOW Foundation is committed to a workplace wherein all employees and volunteers are able to work in an atmosphere of mutual respect. A respectful workplace is essential to the achievement of MEOW’s goals. The MEOW Respectful Workplace policy covers this material in detail, including provincially legislated requirements regarding discrimination and harassment. All volunteers are required to maintain a respectful workplace.
3. Code of Conduct
MEOW wishes to conduct its business to the highest standards of integrity. Individual conduct that compromises MEOW’s reputation or operations should be avoided. Conduct which is reasonably expected to result in accusations toward MEOW is to be avoided. Volunteers are responsible for their personal conduct at all times. Specific details of this policy are contained in the Code of Conduct policy on the Volunteer Resource Google Drive.
4. Public Statements
Public statements on behalf of MEOW Foundation may only be made by a designated spokesperson.
Volunteers who are approached by media to provide information about MEOW should refer all such requests to either their supervisor or the Director.
