Volunteer Agreement
This document is not intended to be a legally binding contract between us and may be cancelled at any time at the discretion of either party. Neither of us intends any employment relationship to be created either now or at any time in the future.
What you can expect from us
- Provide you with clear information about your role within the organisation, including a role
description
- Give you the appropriate training to enable you to carry out your role.
- Provide appropriate support and supervision and be available to speak to during office hours.
- Ensure you are not in a role which should be filled by paid workers.
- Treat you respectfully and professionally at all times
- Work with you in line with our equal opportunities and health and safety policies
- Provide you with insurance cover to cover your actions when volunteering on hospital premises,
providing you do not work outside the boundaries of your training.
- Reimburse out of pocket expenses, as long as there are receipts or evidence of expenditure to
maximum of £8 per day.
- Communicate with you regularly and keep you informed of any changes relevant to your role
- Provide open, honest and fair feedback about your volunteering
- Make you feel welcome, valued and appreciated
What we expect from you
- Accept and support the PROUD values of the Trust
- To act in a professional manner and maintain professional relationships with staff, patients and
families
- Comply with the relevant policies and practices of the Trust, in particular the Volunteer Policy and
Procedures
- Recognise that you represent the organisation and therefore need to act in an appropriate manner
at all times when wearing your volunteer uniform and ID badge
- Only wear your volunteer uniform and ID badge when you are on duty as a volunteer and never
wear it outside of these times
- Be reliable and on time
- Treat patients, visitors, staff and other volunteers with dignity and respect
- Do what is reasonably required to the best of your ability
- Attend any training required by the organisation, including training updates as required
- Accept appropriate supervision and guidance from the staff
- Accept the organisation’s problem solving procedure relating to volunteers
- Notify the ward/department if you are unable to attend your placement for any reason. This
includes time taken for holidays.
- To commit to the time period agreed at interview and let us know as soon as you can if there is a
problem with this
- To declare any conflict of interest which may arise from your volunteering
- To advise of any changes in your circumstances which may affect your suitability for the role e.g.
criminal charges
