Hi - thanks for choosing to apply to be a Winnipeg Folk Festival Apprentice Volunteer!

Thank you for applying for the 2024 Folk Fest Apprentice Crew!! Due to overwhelming popularity, the Apprentice Crew always receives more applicants than we can place.

Apprentices must be at least 13 years old as of January 1st and under 18 years old at the time of the Festival.

Applications received prior to April 14, 2024 will be reviewed and potential apprentices contacted via phone call to discuss their application in advance of a confirmed spot on the crew. Applicants must demonstrate that they can communicate directly with coordinators during this process.

Applications submitted after April 14, 2024 will be kept on the email list for potential 2025 Folk Fest opportunities. All applicants will be notified via email when the crew is filled.

Before we take you to the Apprentice application form, please read and accept these important policies:

Standards of Conduct Agreement

Our Volunteer Application asks all potential volunteers to sign our Standards of Conduct Agreement. It reads as follows:

As members of our Festival community, we all play an important role in the success of the Winnipeg Folk Festival. We bear a responsibility to ourselves, to others and to the organization to uphold the following standards of conduct:

We treat everyone with respect (responsibility for oneself)
•    be kind and positive, to each other and the public
•    contribute to healthy discussion and remain open to other points of view
•    focus on solutions rather than problems
•    adhere to all general Participant Responsibilities at the Festival

We work as a team (responsibility to others)
•    share views and information proactively
•    offer help when needed
•    engage in collaborative problem-solving
•    express appreciation for the collective efforts of all

We are ambassadors of the Winnipeg Folk Festival (responsibility to the organization)
•    contribute to the organization’s mission and vision
•    represent the organization in a positive way, and encourage this positive behavior in others
•    respect the property and information of the organization, ensuring proper confidentiality is kept at all times
•    celebrate, share and spread the Folk Fest feeling at the Festival and year-round

Workplace Violence, Harassment and Abuse Policy

Every volunteer of the Winnipeg Folk Festival has the right to work in an environment free from violence, harassment and abuse, and the WFF is committed to providing a respectful and safe workplace for all.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival takes the reporting of incidents of violence, harassment and abuse very seriously. Anyone found to have committed an act of violence, harassment or abuse during their engagement with the Festival will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

The WFF encourages individuals to try to resolve issues directly as they arise, with or without assistance from their supervisor. However, the WFF recognizes that in some cases this may not be possible, appropriate or effective, and a formal complaint may be made.

For more information, a complete version of the WFF’s Workplace Violence, Harassment and Abuse Policy will be posted at the Festival office, at the Site Office backstage on the Festival site, and on the Festival’s website.
