Art of Volunteering - Commitment to Volunteers & Policy Statement
• Volunteers are essential to the mission, purpose and programming of events and social services in our community
• Volunteers will receive adequate preparation for their responsibilities, work in an environment where they feel valued and appreciated, and receive respectful treatment.
• In exchange for their time, volunteers may receive perks within the means of the host organization. This may include; T-shirts, snacks or meals, water and/or tickets to an event.
• The service of any volunteer is accepted at the discretion of the organization. As a volunteer, you agree to the following understanding:
• I will thoroughly and accurately complete the online Volunteer Registration Form and agree to the policies listed below.
• I will make every effort to fulfill the responsibilities described for each volunteer activity.
• If my volunteer supervisor requests that I perform another activity based on his or her discretion, I will adapt to the new assignment willingly, unless I am unable to for whatever reason.
• I will attend a short volunteer orientation if requested by the hosting organization. Times and locations of trainings will be available on this web site and you will be notified via e-mail.
• I will complete my volunteer assignment in a satisfactory way; show up on time for training and shifts, stay the required duration (exceptions; a medical or personal emergency), wear my volunteer t-shirt and name tag (if provided) or other wardrobe request while on shift, and treat other volunteers, staff, performers, and patrons with respect and aloha.
• I understand that as a volunteer, I have no (zero) authority to reprimand, punish or harass an attendee to an event, that I can only request a behavioral change and bring a situation to the attention to my supervisor.
• I will notify my manager or supervisor immediately if my availability changes from that indicated on my online registration or after my assignment has been finalized.
• I will abide by the policies of the host organization, including, but not limited to, zero tolerance for use of controlled drugs and alcohol, and for harassment of any kind. I agree that the host organization may decide to terminate my relationship, at their discretion, at any time.
• I understand the policies and procedures as written here. NOTE: Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age (some exceptions may apply). Updated: July 31, 2018 Art of Volunteering (A Community Resource)
