Volunteer Waiver of Liability
As a volunteer of Fortitude Community Outreach PADS Shelter program, I understand the following:
- I understand that Fortitude Community Outreach is a charitable organization that requires the assistance of volunteers in the conduct of its programs.
- It is my desire to further the work of Fortitude Community Outreach by performing services as a shelter volunteer.
- I undertake to perform said services as a shelter volunteer without compensation and that, in performing said services, I acknowledge that I am not acting as an employee of the Fortitude Community Outreach.
- I cannot volunteer if I am a registered sex offender.
- I agree to complete the Volunteer Training.
- I agree to hold harmless Fortitude Community Outreach, Fortitude staff, volunteers, and organizations serving as a PADS shelter site from any liability resulting from any incident that may occur during my volunteer service at the site.
- I understand the critical nature of following through on my commitment to serve a scheduled shift. I understand that without sufficient volunteers, the shelter will need to close for an entire evening. I agree to provide at least 24 hour notice if I cannot cover a scheduled shift, and in the case of an emergency, will inform a Volunteer Liaison, Site Supervisor, or Executive Director as soon as possible. I understand that not giving adequate notice or not presenting for a scheduled shift is grounds for termination as a volunteer.
- I agree to maintain a nonjudgmental attitude with shelter guests, treat them with the utmost respect, and work to never escalate a guest and to quickly de-escalate a guest/situation.
- I agree to follow all of the Policies and Procedures of the PADS Shelter, including maintaining the confidentiality of all shelter guests and the safety of myself, other volunteers, and guests while at the shelter site.
- I understand that photographs used in social media and/or marketing materials may be taken of me at the shelter site at any time. I agree that if I do NOT want my photograph to be taken or published it is MY responsibility to inform individuals taking photographs.
